The Vikings dominate Gray’s Creek Tuesday night in Cameron. The ladies came into the non-conference game 4-0 on the season. Senior Ashanti Fox had an outstanding game scoring 36 of the team’s 70 points. She assisted in the teams win on defense with five rebounds, and five steals.
Senior Taryn Pekala pulled her part in the 70-44 win with 12 points and 7 steals. The ladies went into the second quarter with just a 10 point lead, but by halftime Fox contributed 26 points, including four threes to help her team go into the half with a 45-22 lead.
The Bears outscored the Vikings in the fourth 12-6, but it was too late for the Bears. The lady Vikings move to 5-0 on the season and will begin conference play Friday night at home against Lee County.
The guys had their share of success Tuesday night as well. Dominating from the beginning with Kingsley Donaldson scoring 16 in the first half.
The Vikings went into the locker room leading 37-24, but when they came out at half, they saw a different Bears defense. The Bears started the second half full court press and quickly narrowed the Viking lead to single digits. It didn’t take long for the Vikings to adjust and giving themselves a 22 point lead going into the fourth quarter.
Again, the Bears slashed the deficit to 9 points, but the Vikings weren’t going to be defeated at home. Donaldson put up 22 points in the second half, making his total 38 for the night. The Vikings moved to 3-2 on the season with the 73-56 win.
