Three key players return to the Bogeys
The Sandhills Bogeys are excited to announce the return of three key players for the 2025 season. Catcher Charlie Muniz, Catcher Josh Zambito, and Pitcher Nick Duncan. All three players contributed to last season's success.
Charlie Muniz is a senior at University of the Cumberlands. "I love playing in the Sandhills," said Muniz. "The winning environment, the fans and playing a great brand of ball. I'm excited to return."
He was a 2024 Old North State League All Star and Home Run Derby winner. In 2024 he had 97 at bats in his 29 games played, he recorded 21 Runs, 33 Hits, 29 RBI's, 17 BB, and 17 SO. He finished the regular season with a .340 avg. and 9 HR.
"Charlie is a special ballplayer," said Coach Fox. "Coming back with his experience and leadership from last year is huge for us."
Josh Zambito is a senior at St. Andrews University. "It's a blast playing for the Bogeys," said Zambito. "With a lot of returning players, we are going to make a strong run at the championship."
Zambito played in 32 games last season with 87 trips to the plate, recording 17 Runs, 28 Hits, 26 BB, 17 SO and a .322 avg. "I'm with Josh every day at St Andrews," said Fox. "Bito is a worker, he's always at it, and getting better all the time."
Nick Duncan, also a 2024 ONSL All-Star, is a right handed junior from Bluefield University. Duncan went 1-2 last season and had a low 2.70 ERA. He gave up 16 Hits, 10 Runs, and 14 BB.
"Nick was our number one pitcher on the mound last season," said Fox. "He's a real competitor, and having Nick coming back strengthens our rotation immediately."
The Bogeys kick off the Old North State League season at Dempsey Diamond at Bogey Ballpark on May 29, versus the Coastal Coconuts.
