Lady Mustangs improve to 5-3

The Mustangs win conference game against the Northwood Chargers at home on Wednesday. The seven and eight batters contributed big to the Mustangs 5-3 win.

Logan Maness, the seven batter went 2 for 3 with one RBI, while the eight batter Hannah Hunt also went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Lead off batter Lyla also went 2 for 3.

The Mustangs got on the board first in the bottom of the second. Maness got things going with two out after hitting a fly ball double to right field. Hunt singled with a fly ball to center field. Robbins reached first base on an error bringing in Maness.

Northwood tied in the third, but the Mustangs rallied in the fourth scoring three runs. Clendenin reached on error, but gets out advancing to second on a fielders choice when Allred grounded to short. Fields doubled with a fly ball to left field, moving Allred to third. Maness singled with a 1 and 3 count, sending Allred across the plate and moving Fields to third. Hunt earns two RBIs when she hits a grounder to left field, sending Fields and Maness home. Robbins and Nelson got the second and third out to end the inning.

The Mustangs scored one more in the fifth. Northwood tried to get the bats going in the sixth but came up short, only scoring two runs.

Russell pitched another complete game, only giving up two hits and three runs, no earned runs. She walked two batters and stuck out six.

The Mustangs offense went 7 for 25 with 4 RBIs. One Lady was walked and only two struck out.

The Lady Mustangs will play Tonight at Graham, with the first pitch scheduled at 5 p.m. They improve to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
