Brooke Emore is our female 2024 Fall Athlete Award winner. She is a senior at Pinecrest High School where she has played varsity volleyball all four years. Emore’s stats and leadership got her nominated and chosen to win the award. “Brooke not only has an impressive stat line her senior year and throughout her high school career, but also because she was the most dominant player in her sport in the county,” said Coach Blackburn. “Brooke represented not only Pinecrest High School well, but Moore County. She was our captain and what made us go throughout the season. When we needed a play, she was always there to make it. Brooke is just a great person; she is fun loving and is of the utmost character.”
Brooke had just under 300 sets played in her high school career, 95 her senior season. Her 905 career kills, 438 of which she earned this season, ranked her 12th in the NCHSAA and second in the 4A East.
Brooke had 15 career player of match awards, named AVCA (National Collegiate Volleyball Association) Phenom, AVCA All American, AVCA All Academic, 2x NCAVCA All Region, 2x All Conference, 2024 All Conference Player of the Year, 86-25 High School record including 56-0 in conference and two Sweet 16 trips in the NCHSAA State Playoffs, and over 600 career receptions including over 350 her senior year.
Brooke began playing volleyball around the age of 12 for KAT Volleyball, which is a travel team. “I like how competitive the sport is and how much of a team sport is,” said Brooke.
Her sophomore year was her favorite year to play. “You could tell the seniors that year wanted to win, and everyone had that push to keep going. It was just a very fun season,” said Brooke.
The best games for Brooke were when they played their cross-county rivals, Union Pines. In Brooke’s career, they went 11-0 against the Vikings.
“My experience playing here at Pinecrest has been very good,” said Brooke. “I was timid at first because there were no other underclassmen when I was a freshman on varsity, but I have grown as a person and with the sport. It’s been nothing but good for me.”
Brooke has not decided where she will attend college but does want to play volleyball at that level. Beyond college, she is deciding between nursing or the military.
