NCHSAA Conferences are set

The NCHSAA set conferences for next year. We will keep the three Moore County High Schools aligned with some of their long-standing conference partners. Here is a quick look at the new conferences.

3A/4A:

The Mustangs will have two schools from their current conference with them next year, Northwood and Jordan-Matthews. They are again in another a split conference but the biggest change is joining Uwharrie Charter. Charter schools have been a recent discussion, whether they should have their own class or be able to join traditional schools. Here is the list of schools in this conference:

Eastern Randolph 3A - Ramseur, 26 miles from North Moore.

North Moore 3A

Northwood 3A - Pittsboro, 38 miles from North Moore.

Jordan-Matthews 4A - Siler City, 24 miles from North Moore.

Southwestern Randolph 4A - Asheboro, 25 miles from North Moore.

Uwharrie Charter 4A - Asheboro, 22 miles from North Moore.

7A/8A:

The conference will still align Hoke County and Richmond with Pinecrest. In this split conference, the Patriots are one of two 8A teams.

Jack Britt 7A - Fayetteville, 37 miles from Pinecrest.

Overhills 7A - Spring Lake, 37 miles.

Pine Forest 7A - Fayetteville, 39 miles.

Richmond 7A - Rockingham, 28 miles.

Hoke County 8A - Raeford, 22 miles.

Pinecrest 8A

6A:

Union Pines will be in a straight 6A conference with Lee County and Southern Lee. The Vikings, though it’s been years, are familiar with their new conference opponents, having played them before. This conference is large with eight teams, for sports like football; it means there will only be three non conference games and I am sure one of those games will remain the Battle of the Pines.

Harnett Central - Angier, 42 miles.

Lee County - Sanford, 18 miles.

Southern Lee - Sanford, 14 miles.

South Johnston - Four Oaks, 60 miles.

Triton - Erwin, 48 miles.

West Johnston - Benson, 65 miles.

Western Harnett - Lillington, 25 miles.
