Rodeo comes to Carthage

Next weekend the Carthage Pro Rodeo will be hosting an event at the Moore County fair ground in Carthage. This will be the first rodeo that Moore County has had in several years.

The Carthage Pro Rodeo is being hosted by the New Classic Pro Rodeo, their first time in Moore County. Based out of Woodleaf North Carolina, which is near Salisbury, NCPR has been in the rodeo business for nearly 12 years. “It’s new ground. There are a few rodeos close, but it’s new ground for us,” said Lane Scruggs. The excitement for the rodeo has been building over the past month. “We’ve been getting a lot of good feedback,” said Scruggs.

The rodeo will be Friday and Saturday, gates will open at 6:00 p.m. and the competition will begin at 8:00 p.m. Make plans to attend both nights, there will be different competitors each night. Competitions include: bareback riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, bull riding, and more. There will also be clown acts and entertainment. There will be food and merchandise vendors.

“There will have a lot of top competitors. We’re really proud of our livestock. We’ve got several horses and bulls that have been in the NFR and PBR finals,” said Scruggs.

Tickets are cash sold at the gate, 5 & under are free, 6-12 is $10, and adults are $20. There is a $3 fee to park, but all proceeds for parking will go to Moore County charities. It will be fun for the entire family.

New Classic Pro Rodeo is a SRA/IPRA sanctioned rodeo.
