Preseason Interview - Union Pines Men’s Golf

Last season the Vikings placed third in their conference with Tommy Calarco and Tad Caddell qualifying for regionals, and Caddell qualifying for state.

The Vikings have six men on their team as follows:

Tad Caddell Sr.

Grayson Bryant Jr.

AJ Keiser So.

Gavin Briggs So.

Cullen Cox So.

Jameson Fairleigh So.

After a good off season workouts, Coach Todd Weaver feels good about his young team. “So far, things look good. I am expecting us to reach regionals as a team, maybe a couple reaching states as individuals,” said Weaver. “The morale is high now, they just concentrate on one match at a time.”

“Working as a team. I see each student motivating one another. Golf is an individual sport but must come together as a team to reach our goals and I see it coming together,” said Weaver.

Cadell, Keiser, and Briggs are all returning from last season. “They bring the experience playing tournament golf as a team,” said Weaver. “They bring the experience from tournament golf and understand how we play as a team and share that experience with the newer golfers.”

The Vikings will take to the course on Tuesday at the Country Club of Whispering Pines.
