Grunts dominate final home game
Grunts win the final home game of the season. Hosting Liberty Christian Academy, the Grunts dominated on both sides of the ball Friday afternoon.
The rain would stay away for most of the first half. Former College and NFL coach Cam Cameron did the honors of tossing the coin. The Grunts won the toss and chose to receive.
Quarterback Ian Hicks put his arm to work to score early when he connected to Luke Moon for the first touchdown pass of the game. Braedon Hudson ran in two touchdowns in the first quarter, the first rushing touchdown was for 70 yards. Hicks connected with Sam Attar for a 42 yard touchdown pass. The Grunt offence scored 29 unanswered points in the first quarter.
The second quarter wasn’t much different, a rushing touchdown by Hudson, passing touchdown to Attar and Moon. Hicks ran one in on a four yard keeper. The Grunts had scored 50 unanswered points at the half.
A long half time due to lightning delays may have cooled down the Grunts offence, but special teams recovered their kickoff to start the second half.
After no score in the third quarter, Elijah Brown wanted to get in on the action and ran a 66 yard touchdown run in the 4th. The Grunts won their home finally 56-0 to give them their third win on the season.
The defense side of the ball also played their best game of the season. Elijah Brown had two fumble recoveries. Richie Berry, and Sam Attar had one interception each.
“QB Ian Hicks had his best game of the season, completing all four pass attempts for 108 yards and two TD’s. He also ran for 59 yards on eight carries and found the end zone for a rushing touchdown,” said Athletic Director Andy Attar.
The Grunts will travel to cross-county rivals Sandhills Classical Christian School next Friday for the final game of the season. The Grunts hope to improve to 4-6 on the season.
