Father Capodanno win first game on Homecoming.
The Grunts get their second win and first home win of the season on Thursday afternoon. A few weeks ago, the Grunts defeated Lee Christian on the road and Thursday the Falcons traveled to Southern Pines for their second meet of the season.
Thursday the Grunts celebrated Homecoming and Senior night. The Grunts had their largest crowd of the season.
Missing several key starts didn’t hinder the Grunts for showing up on all sides of the ball. The first touchdown came with 5:40 left in the first quarter. A minute and a half later, Ian Hicks would connect for a passing touchdown to Braedon Hudson. A minute later Milum got a defence interception. With 1:32 to go in the first quarter, Hicks threw another touchdown pass to Sam Attar to go up 20-0.
In the second quarter, the Grunt’s defense quickly intercepted the ball and got a strip. With 1:02 left in the half the Grunts scored on a QB keeper by Hicks. Attar scored on a 52 yard run with 6:28 left to go in the third. Attar kicked and scored his first PAT of the season to get the Grunts to go up 33-0. Hudson scored again on a long run, after a good PAT by Attar the Grunts went up 40-0.
The Falcons drove the ball late in the fourth, but the Grunts defense made a stand and got the turnover on downs. The Grunts, for the first time this year, heard the home crowed cheer for them as they entered victory formation. The Grunts look for the 40-0 Homecoming victory to give them momentum as they head into the three last games of the season.
The Grunts will travel to Berean Baptist next Friday and will be back home for their last home game on the 20th.
