Grunts fall, Ladies talk conference title

Could another Lady Grunts conference championship be in the works? It is early in the season but the Grunts big win over Thomas Academy to open conference play on Thursday night has people talking.

This is the Grunt’s first season in a conference and just a few weeks ago they won their first conference volleyball title. The Grunts defeated Thomas Academy 58-27 on the road. Their two game winning streak puts them at 3-3 on the season overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Thomas Academy will now travel to Southern Pines on Wednesday to face the Grunts.

Unlike the ladies, the guys struggled. going into the half, the guys were up by one with a 27-26 lead. Somewhere in the last two quarters, the guys began to struggle and their one point lead turned into an 18 point loss. They fell 35-57.

The guys will have until Wednesday to prepare for the rematch as Thomas Academy will come to the Grunt’s house for their second conference game. The Grunts are now 0-5 on the season with 315 combined points being scored against them.
