Grunts ready for first conference game in history
The Father Capodanno Grunts prepare for their first conference football game in school history. The 1-1 Grunts went into their bye week last week celebrating a big road win at Lee Christian in Sanford 54-6.
In two games, the Grunts have scored 54 but have had 50 scored against them. The school family is excited for the athletic program to enter a conference for the opportunity of postseason play.
Friday night, they will host Rocky Mount Academy Eagles. The Grunts will be playing with their full roster, less senior Alex Cook. Cook is out for the season recovering from a collar bone injury that occurred in week one. Senior Sam Attar returns to the quarterback and defensive end positions, and Senior Luke Moon returning his line positions on both sides of the ball. Senior Braeden Hudson will be at running back.
“This is a new team, in a sense, taking the field Friday,” said head coach Aaron Hartley. “Rocky Mount Academy has a very mature program that has been competitive in 8-man football for a long time. This game is a big step for our young program.”
Kickoff is scheduled at 4 pm at Moore Montessori Community School in Southern Pines.
