Mustangs have big wins in softball and baseball
The Mustangs Baseball team continues to win big. On the road for a conference game, the Mustangs defeated Southeast Alamance 10-2.
Will Kennedy pitched another complete game, only giving up three hits, walked two batters and had six strikeouts.
Austin Patterson put the Mustangs on the board with a solo home run in centerfield. Elliot Furr sent one over the wall in the first and third inning to contribute to the win.
The team went 13 for 36 while being walked four times and collecting nine strikeouts. Patterson, Furr, Parsons all had two RBIs.
The Mustangs gave up the only two runs in the first to tie the game. Will Kennedy hit a RBI single in the top of the second to put the Mustangs back on top. They continued to build their lead from there.
The Mustangs are at home tonight for a cross-county game against O’Neal.
The ladies dominated at home in their conference game against Bartlett-Yancey. The game was called after the third inning, with the Mustangs winning 17-2.
Sydney Russell started in the circle, giving up one hit and one walk while striking out four batters. Tate Allred came to the circle in the third inning and gave up two hits, one walk, and two runs.
Sydney Russell hit a stand up triple, Calissa Clendenin and Ella Fields both got doubles in the blowout win. In three innings, the Mustangs went 14 for 23, four walks, and only one batter struck out. Sydney Russell, along with Clendenin, Fields, and Monroe batted a 1.000. Nelson, Maness, and hunt went 2 for 3, and Preslar went 1 for 2.
The 3-2 Mustangs were coming off a two game losing streak, and will be looking to carry this momentum into tonight when the host Montgomery Central who beat them 10-0 in their last meeting.
