Mustangs win doubles conference tournament
Mustangs wins conference tournament in doubles Monday afternoon.
The Mustangs wrap up their season and the conference tournament ranked 5th in the 1A East. “We’ve had good outcomes against the 2A teams in our conference and I’m hoping that will continue into the 1A playoffs,” said coach Little.
The ladies hosted Chatham Central in the 1A Mid-Carolina tournament.
In doubles it was all Mustangs in the final round.
Bailea Marley and Leah Covington defeated Chatham Central’s Douglas and Caviness (6-0,6-0) in the first round. North Moore’s Constance Brown and Julie Dunn also got the first-round win by defeating Chatham Central’s Mallard and Reyes Fransisco (6-2,6-4). The four teammates squared off for the doubles title with Marley and Covington coming out on top with scores 6-1,6-2.
Marley and Covington will now travel to Goldsboro on the 18th and 19th for regional competition.

In singles, Chatham Central took the title.
The team finished the season 7-2 in the 1A/2A conference, behind Seaforth High School. They begin state playoffs starting the week of October 14th.
“I am so proud of the girls this season! They have worked really hard on being consistent and using different strategies,” said Little.
