Moore County Kick-off Classic

Pinecrest hosted the inaugural Moore County Kickoff Classic Friday night. The event consisted of Pop Up in the Pines, Food Trucks, and of course Friday night football. The North Moore Mustangs opened the event against Western Harnett. Union Pines Vikings played Anson County followed by the host Pinecrest Patriots playing Willow Springs.

The teams played two quarters of 12 minutes with a rolling scoreboard. Moore County versus everyone. Moore County ended with a combined score of 63 and everyone had 33.

The event was a success, unfortunately one Anson County player had to be taken off the field by stretcher with an injury and was taken to a nearby hospital. Trainers from multiple schools, along with Aberdeen Fire Department and Moore County EMS, rushed to the athletes’ aid.

A similar event at his previous school inspired Pinecrest coach Nick Eddins. Coaches and players were excited to watch other schools in the county scrimmage before the official start of next week's season. Pinecrest Athletic Director Jeff Hewitt is confident that this will be a yearly event.
