Patriots and Mustangs get ready for round two

The North Moore Mustangs defeated conference rival for the second week in a row. Friday’s game was the first round of the NCHSAA 1A playoffs. The Mustangs defeated winless Chatham Central 28-0 to advance to the second round.

They Mustangs will get at least one more home playoff game hosting the 11th ranked Bertie. Bertie High School has a 5-5 record. They defeated Southside 34-14 on Friday.

A little further south, Pinecrest hosted South Garner in the first round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs. The Patriots struggled much of the first half, but the game turned into a shootout in the third quarter. The Patriots went into the half down 21-14. Pinecrest showed up in the third and pulled away and got the win 45-31 to advance to the second round.
