Patriots win back-to-back state titles
The Lady Patriots won their back-to-back title and secured the sixth championship for the school. The NCHSAA 4A State Championship was held at Pinehurst #6.
The Lady Patriots got out to an early lead on Monday. As a team, the Patriots had a score of 219, 5 strokes ahead of second place Charles E. Jordan.
In the first round individuals Pinecrest senior Boonyanant Rujiranan was in a three-way tie shooting 70 at par.
Individual Patriot 1st round results:

49- Mary Earhart
The Lady Patriots as a team lost the second round by one stroke shooting 230.

The Patriots won the title by 10 strokes with a final score of 449.
“The two years were so different. Last year we won Regionals by 12 shots but won states by just 2 shots. This year we finished 3rd at Regionals and won states by 10 shots. I think the girls wanted to make up for their Regional performance and really played well this week. Two great rounds were turned in by a Pinecrest Patriot this year. BB’s 70 yesterday was tied for the first round lead and Kaitlyn’s great round today of 71 (in very difficult conditions) was the 2nd lowest round of the day,” said Coach Jamie Williams.
