Patriots win conference title, Vikings and Mustangs fall short

In a growing sport, Moore County had three High School volleyball teams in Conference Championships on Wednesday. Two of those three teams played each other for the title.

Pinecrest beat Union Pines twice in the regular season and won the championship by going undefeated in conference play. Their streak would continue in the cross county rival. The Patriots defeated the Vikings 3-0 to win the title. Set 1: 23-25, Set 2: 16-25, Set 3: 16-25.

Union Pines Individual Stats are as follows:

Tyne Ross:15 Kills, 20 Digs, 4 Service Points

Sydney Hay: 7 Assists, 6 Service Points

Mylee Scruggs: 13 Digs, 5 Service Points

Allie Bauer: 13 Assists, 4 Digs, 5 Service Points

Ellie Chapin: 5 Kills, 12 Digs

The Vikings will head into the NCHSAA 3A State Tournaments 18-6.

Pinecrest Individual stats are as followers:

Julia Pate with 33 assists, 13 service points, 7 aces, 5 digs, and 3 blocks. 

Jacey Olsen with 16 digs and 10 kills. 

Taylor Miller with 14 service points and 3 aces.

Hailey Gibbons with 14 digs. 

Brooke Emore 12 digs and 10 kills. 

Emma Clark with 11 kills.

Jase Fink with 5 service points and 4 aces. 

Katelyn Bunting with 3 blocks. 

The Patriots will go into the NCHSAA 4A State Tournament with a 18-7.

North Moore Mustangs hosted the first two rounds of the conference tournament, but had to travel to face off Seaforth who has not been defeated in conference play.

The Hawks continued their streak, and they denied the Mustangs a conference title. Seaforth won all three sets: 15-25, 11-25, 18-25.

The Mustangs will go into the NCHSAA 1A State Tournament 15-8.

All three Moore County teams will host the first round of the NCHSAA Tournaments on Saturday. Opponents and Times are TBD.
