Jokers win in Mooresville

Week 2 of the Spring 15s season and the Southern Pines Jokers traveled to Mooresville to take on the Lake Norman Wolfhounds. If you enjoy high scoring and little defense, this was the match for you. While the Jokers jumped out to an early lead, the Wolfhounds would not go away. Capitalizing on the mistakes of the Jokers, and making very few of their own, the Wolfhounds were able to keep the high scoring affair to a 1 try game, but when the final whistle blew, the Jokers were on top 50-44. Coach Joe Hogan was happy to escape with a win, “We came in against a hungry Lake Norman side who was ready to defend their home turf. We were lucky to come away with a win and will get back to work this week at practice to correct our mistakes.” The Jokers were lead in scoring by Union Pines Junior Dylan Giltzow. Giltzow knows there’s work to if the Jokers want to continue winning, “We had a few new guys playing in their first ever rugby game today. We know we have to lock in this week with a rivalry match Thursday night”. Next up is for the Jokers is a short trip over to Sanford to take on the Sandhills Sharks. Kick off is scheduled for 5:30 at Ascend Leadership Academy in Sanford.
