SPYR Jokers open season with a big win

The Southern Pines Jokers kicked off the Spring season against the Greensboro Barbarians. Playing in the middle of the iconic Harness Track in Pinehurst, the Jokers were able to start the 15s season with a strong win. The Barbarians came with size and speed but the Jokers were able to capitalize on quick ball play to create overloads and recognize mismatches all afternoon. Strong play from the veterans was the difference. Captain Wyatt Carlson (Pinecrest Senior) was pleased with the style of play to open the season “Overall, the boys played with extreme physicality and showed rugby wit leading to the win,” said Carlson. Final score was 49-14. Next up, the Jokers travel to Mooresville on 3/16 to take on Lake Norman.
