Patriots finish perfect with win over Vikings
The Patriots hosted cross county rivals Thursday night for senior night and the final regular season game.
This was the second of the two regular season meetings between the two teams. The Patriots defeated the Vikings earlier in the season in Cameron 3-0.
Thursday night, the two teams battled it out for five sets.
Set 1: 20-25 Pinecrest.
Set 2: 25-23 Union Pines.
Set 3: 13-25 Pinecrest.
Set 4: 25-20 Union Pines.
Set 5: 10-15 Pinecrest.
For the Vikings, the team leaders were:
Mylee Scruggs: 22 digs, 11 service points, 2 aces
Ellie Chapin: 20 digs, 11 kills, 5 service points
Alley Hise: 21 assists, 12 service points, 5 digs
Madelyn Perkins: 13 assists, 8 service points, 6 digs,
Katie Burley: 10 digs, 10 service points
Savannah McCaskill: 6 kills, 2 blocks
Kira Daberkow: 5 kills
Avery Smallwood: 4 blocks
The Lady Vikings finished 13-7 overall and 7-5 in the conference. They finished in third behind Scotland and Pinecrest. They finished 11th in 3A East and 113th in North Carolina.
The Vikings will host Richmond for the first round of the Sandhills Athletic Conference Tournament on Monday.
The Patriots leaders were:
Lawson Barrett with 46 assists, 18 digs, and 9 service points.
Brooke Emore with 23 kills, 11 digs, 8 service points, and 3 aces.
Olivia Rosy with 23 digs.
Hailey Gibbons with 18 digs and 13 service points.
Julia Pate with 17 kills and 5 digs.
Kianna Hall-Wickham with 11 service points and 5 aces.
Taylor Miller with 7 service points, 5 kills, 5 digs, and 3 aces.
Emily Regtuyt with 5 kills and 3 blocks.
Jase Fink with 8 service points.
The ladies finish the regular season 17-8 overall and 12-0 in the conference. With their perfect conference record, they are the 2024 and are Sandhills Athletic Conference Champions for the sixth consecutive season.
The ladies will host a semi-finals game on Tuesday.
