Vikings qualify for regionals

Vikings qualified for regionals in doubles Wednesday afternoon.

In the finals Lucy McPherson - Bella Edwards (Union Pines) defeated Lynn Yoxtheimer - Ceilidh Clendenin (Union Pines) 8-1.

for third place Madelyn Ragsdale - Kinsley Creel (Union Pines) defeated Brooke Burrus - Quillen Petrarca (Southern Lee) 9-7.

The Vikings victory gives the ladies the 3A Sandhills Athletic Conference doubles title.

McPherson - Edwards, Yoxtheimer - Clendenin and Ragsdale - Creel also qualified for the 3A Mid-East Regional Tournament on the 18th-19th.

In singles, the only Viking still standing after the first two rounds yesterday was Emma Chapin.

Genesis Gonzalez (Southern Lee) defeated Chapin 8-0.

Logan Hickman (Southern Lee) defeated Gina DeCerbo (Southern Lee) 8-2.

In the finals, it was two Southern Lee players looking for the tournament title. Gonzalez defeated Hickman 8-0.

Gonzalez and Hickman are qualifiers for the 3A Mid-East Regional Tournament.
