Viking men’s basketball wins on the road - Ladies lose 3 straight
The Vikings basketball teams traveled to Montgomery Central Tuesday. The lady Vikings played first. Montgomery took a 11 point lead at the end of the first quarter. They outscored the Vikings in the second 10-8. The Vikings went to the half trailing 25- 12. The Vikings began their comeback in the 3rd quarter outscoring Montgomery by 8 in the second half. The comeback wasn’t enough to win it. Montgomery gave the Vikings their third loss of the season with a 53-48 final.
Junior Alley Hise scored 19 points, followed by junior Taryn Pekala with 11, and sophomore Savannah McCaskill with 8.
The Vikings are now 0-3 and will host Western Harnett tonight. Western Harnett is 1-1 on the season and has been outscored by 14 points combined.
The Vikings men’s team improved their record to 2-1 after defeating Montgomery Central 72-27 on Tuesday.
Trent Hilburn scored 18 points, Jaylen Kyle 16 points, Zion Kiser 9 points, and Kingsley Donaldson and Lawson Fields both scoring 8 points.
The Vikings will host Western Harnett tonight for military appreciation. Western Harnett are winless this season so far and have been outscored by combined opponents 166-93.
