Vikings get a pair of wins on Wednesday
The Viking basketballs teams pick up wins on Wednesday. The ladies led things off with a dominating performance throughout the home game against Western Harnett.
Top scorers in the 43-22 win were: Corryn McCutchen with 12 points, followed by junior duo, Alley Hise and Taryn Pekala with eight each. The Vikings’ travel to Gray’s Creek in Hope Mills on Friday for their third game this week.
The Vikings are now 1-3 on the season. Gray’s Creek Bears are 1-1.
The Union Pines Boys Basketball team hosted Western Harnett on Wednesday. The game started out close and low scoring, by the end of the 1st quarter it looked like the game would be a battle with a score of 7-6.
The Vikings ran away with the lead every quarter until the end of the game. By the final, the Vikings out scored Western Harnett 73-30 in three quarters. The final score was 80-36.
Kingsley Donaldson contributed the blow out win with 17 points, along with Trent Hilburn with 14 points, Jaylen Kyle with 12 points, Zion Kiser with 10 points, and Aiden Leonard with 9 points.
The 3-1 Vikings men’s team will also travel to Gray’s Creek, who are 0-2 on the season.
