Viking Softball lost first game, while guys look to break losing streak
Lady Vikings lost their first game of the season at Scotland Tuesday night. The Ladies went into the game 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Allie Bauer gave up five hits, two runs, three walks and struck out one batter in the 2-0 loss.
Scotland was strong in the circle, only allowing two hits. In the Vikings' 23 at-bats, the ladies struck out 11 times.
Scotland scored in the first and third to claim the win.
The men continue to struggle on the diamond, losing their fifth straight game Tuesday in St. Pauls. Dispite out hitting the Bull Dogs 13 to 8, they found themselves trying to catch up in the 7th. The Vikings would score one in the 7th inning, but it wasn’t enough in the 8-9 loss.
Joey Ring pitched three innings and took the loss. Ring gave up seven hits, eight runs, four walks and he sat down two batters. Tyler Lewis also pitched three innings and gave up one hit, one run, one walk and he sat down five batters.
The Vikings went 13 for 30 as a team with seven RBIs. Five Vikings reached base through walks, and only two were struck out. Benedict, Williams, and Lewis all went 2 for 3.
