North Moore’s Sawyer Nall commits to Guilford College

North Moore Senior Sawyer Nall commits to play football for Guilford College this fall.

Nall spent all four years on varsity as a starting offensive lineman. The commitment ceremony took place in the North Moore gym with coaches, students, teachers and family in attendance.

Noth Moore’s Athletic Director Chris Coble opened the ceremony by expressing how proud and excited he is for Nall. “It’s always an exciting time not only is one of our athletes going to continue to play the sport that they love but they're also going to continue their education,” said Coble.

Offensive Line Coach Mabe, who was a mentor and someone special to Nall during his high school career, spoke about Nall’s time as a Mustang. “This young man for four years was one of my starters. You can count on him. He was there, during workouts he was there, and he took care of business,” said Mabe. “I’m so proud of this young man.”

Head Coach Andrew Carrouth also spoke, telling stories of Nall during his four years. He also explained how special he was to the program. “Sawyer is special to me because he was a part of changing the program," said Carrouth. Carrouth talked about how Nall’s freshman year was different. They were not allowed to play until the spring of 2021 because of COVID. This was a time that coaches wanted to use to make the program different.

“After a few practices, I asked coach Mabe for his five best. He named a Junior, Senior, Junior, Senior, and a Freshman. I said, coach we don’t need to play a freshman on varsity. It’s not the time to do that and we don’t need to do that. Coach Mabe said the kid is ready,” said Carrouth.

After losing the first game that spring, Carrouth watched the film and noticed something different about Nall. “He fought, and he scrapped, and he battled for everything,” said Carrouth. “That showed me that this young man was going to be special.”

Nall started every game during his four years, and because he was a four-year starter and the deep runs in the playoffs, he has played more games than anyone in Mustang history. “That is an outstanding accomplishment, and it’s a great credit to him as a young man what kind of football player he is, but also what kind of man he is,” said Carrouth.
