Mustangs heading to Elite 8

Mustangs Men’s Soccer advance to round four of the NCHSAA 1A playoffs. The Mustangs defeated 11th ranked Southside at home 1-0 on Monday.

“It was a good game with almost the same intensity as the last game,” said Coach Peralta. “I believe we had the most possession of the ball throughout the whole first half and throughout the whole game.”

The Mustangs had 18 shots on goal in the first half alone. It would be the second half when Junior Robert Ramirez assisted Senior Ricky to put the ball in the net. In the last minute of play, Southside had an opportunity to score, but then Freshman Rigo Juarez got the ball out from the line to avoid the game going into overtime.

Under the leadership of Coach Peralta, the Mustangs have continued building a great program. They were defeated last season in the Elite 8 game (4th round). They made the trip to the State runner ups in 2013.

The 3rd ranked Mustangs will host 7th ranked East Wake Academy, who has a 13-7 record.

The upper bracket match in the East will be top seed Hobbton vs 4th ranked Voyager. One of those teams will face North Moore or East Wake Academy in the Final Four.

The west side of the bracket top seeded Thomas Hefferson will host 13 seed Bishop McGuinness. 2nd ranked Mt. Airy will host 3rd ranked Gray Stone Day School.

The Mustangs and East Wake will face off Thursday at 6 p.m. in Robbins. Come out and support North Moore as they represent Moore County in the Elite 8.
