Kimbrell hits walk off for the Patriots
Pinecrest remains undefeated after a three-run walk off homer in the bottom of the seventh.
The Patriots came into Friday’s home game 3-0 on the season, dominating all three games, out scoring their opponents 34-5 before Friday’s game.
In the bottom of the first, Conner Tepatti singled and the team substituted Nate Lowry to run for him. Lowry advanced to second on a wild pitch. JC Woolard lays down a sacrifice bunt to move Lowry to third. Bryant Krimbell hit a RBI single to give the Patriots the first run of the game.
Myers Park tied the game in the top of the first. The Mustangs left two runners stranded.
The Patriots came back to the plate, looking to put away their closest game of the young season. Tyler Skizenta reaches first with a ground ball after an error. The pitcher walked Tepatti after throwing six pitches. The coach brought in Lowry to run for Tepatti, and Woolard bunts resulted in Skizenta being thrown out at third on a fielder's choice. With runners on first and second, Kimbrell stepped up to the plate, searching for another hit. Kimbrell was intentionally walked early in the game.
After a 2-2 count, Kimbrell sends a fly-ball over the center field wall for a three-run walk off.
The Patriots seen 24 at bats and had seven hits. The team struck out eight times, walked three and collected four RBIs who were all claimed by Kimbrell.
Bohdi Robertosn pitched 5.2 innings and gave up one hit and struck out six while walking two. Bryant Kimbrell pitched one inning, giving up two hits and one run. He struck out eight batters and walked two.
After the 4-1 walk-off win, the Patriots have outscored their opponents 34-6 and have a 4-0 record. The Patriots will travel to Richmond on Tuesday night for their first conference game of the season. The first pitch is scheduled at 7 p.m.
