Vikings drop conference game

The Vikings out hit Lee County Friday night, but it was not enough to pull out a win. The Vikings are now 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Lee County was up 50- before the Vikings scored a run in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Chandler Ring walked, getting things rolling for the Vikings. Willy Rivera singled with a line drive advancing Ring to third. Austin Mooring hit an RBI single to left field, moving Rivera to second and bringing in Ring.

Sam Parker's walk loaded the bases for the Vikings, resulting in a Balk that advanced Rivera and moved Mooring to second. Another Balk scored Rivera and moved Mooring to third. Brodie Lyczkowski grounded out to end the inning.

Lee County brought in another two runs in the sixth and the Vikings scored one more in the sixth. The Vikings recorded seven hits while Lee County git six. Both teams recorded two errors. In the 7-3 loss, the Vikings had 27 at bats with seven hits, eight walks, and eight strikeouts. Rivera and Lewis both recorded an RBI each.

Three pitchers seen the hill. Caleb Wagner pitched one inning and had one strikeout and one walk. Tyler Lewis pitched 2.2 innings, had four hits and two runs against him. He walked two and stuck out one batter. Vhandler Ring pitched 3.1 innings with two hits and five runs. He struck out seven batters and walked four.

The Vikings will travel to 2-2 Gray’s Creek on Monday for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
